Originally it thought that Aborigines called it Huelén (sig .: "pain, misery"), but Pedro de Valdivia named it Saint Lucia, then on December 13 1540, founded the
city of Santiago at the entrance of the hill.

The Cerro Santa Lucia is located in the heart of the city and he hides large traces of history that can be found easily walking to the highest point.

Among its attractions is the castle Hidalgo, ancient way station, among others.
